I'm in a Nest-y kind of mood at the moment. You can see it in my latest work.

Repurposed vintage spoons with black velvet ribbon and mini nest with moss, available at Nest, Penguin..
I'm feeling inspired by our feathered friends. I watch them in the garden, gathering materials, building nests, all the while talking and talking and talking. I wonder who is in charge, who gets to make the final say, on the best looking nest. I watch the birdies hanging on to the overhead wires, almost vertical ... Continue reading ...
Growing
I am happy with the fact that I never want to grow up! I think 'child' is the nicest state to be in.

Ned and best friend Soli at Marrawah.
My ideal is eternal childhood. I live to play and laugh. Have you ever noticed how much children laugh...... I try to exist in a state of possibilities, unknown answers, endless questions. Life is my playground, work is my playground, my house and family are my play-mates. How exciting it is to get up each day and make it up! What interests me today, what w... Continue reading ...
Big String Ball,Penguin Primary School

Is this how we love our earth?
It seems ironic, this tag - Ocean and earth. Is this how we love our planet. How does this plastic tag floating in our oceans make us feel? Do we really need all the packaging that goes with our products? Continue reading ...
10,000 Minutes of Plastic - My new Project
10,000 minutes of plastic.
A project by Janine Morris of second Sister.
365 days of collecting plastic for 1/2 hour each day. This equals over 10,000 minutes of collecting time.
This project is about the plastic I collect in one year, and represents plastic for a week of our life. A small snapshot of our reliance on plastic, our consumerism, lack of respect for ourselves and all that we share our planet with.
This project is about the reliance we have on plastic in our everyday life.

New Stuffing
I am very pleased to let you know that I am now using stuffing for my toys, and cushion inserts that is made from CORN.
I am very glad to have found Tristan at Innergreen, a Sydney based company that supplies toy stuffing, cushion inserts, wadding for quilters and shopping bags all made from corn.
How is this possible? The corn kernel (from a corn cob) is processed in their Sydney factory, the starch is extracted and spun into fibres. Making a soft, light and nicely dense stuffing.
There are... Continue reading ...

Respecting Aboriginal Culture
I recently attended a great course in Burnie. The Tasmanian Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, together with Tourism Tasmania presented a one day workshop on Respecting Aboriginal Culture. I loved the opportunity to gain a greater awareness of the Aboriginal community - 'their history, heritage and continuing culture.' We had a chance to learn how to give our tourists and visitors the right message about Aboriginal people and their culture. Most important we learnt to ask, if we are unsure. The ...
