Winter is the stock making time. A lovely time to slow down and find those inside jobs. Long walks on the beach breaks up this work - in between showers, sleet and snow! Back at work, I have been laying out and making kits and toys.
Both are made from 100% woollen blankets I have collected over time. I wash them in hot water and lots of soap ( my kids call them soap monster washes). This felts (or fulls) the blankets - ready to be cut into toys and kits.

I recently made a new product for my growing range of clothes. Here is the child's Cape I made. It is made from a repurposed 100% woollen blanket, felted and cut into a cape, and lined with red linen.
It has a hand sewn snowflake detail, with baby doileys and buttons. It is reversible, the red linen side has baby doileys and vintage and collected buttons.

Woollen blanket skirts and more

This week has been a lovely time for sewing.My old Janome has been working very hard for me, and I am really pleased with how we have worked together. I have completed woollen blanket skirts and ladies swing top and children's dresses. Whew! Ladies long 100% woollen blanket skirt, felted and repurposed. Has a doiley pocket and recycled sari silk circle, with vintage and collected buttons. Now for sale at Nest, Penguin. These skirt available in my online shop by order.

Forth Exhibition, Queens Birthday weekend, Art of Craft
If you have a chance this weekend, head to Forth on the North West Coast of Tasmania. There you will find the Lions club hosting the, "Art of Craft experience". Wrap skirts
Now stocked in Nest are my new 100% woollen blankets upcycled and felted into wrap skirts. They come in five different sizes, adult, small adult child 4-6 years, toddler and newborn. Each skirt is an original and cannot be repeated. Wrap skirts have side pockets and hand stitched details of circles and vintage buttons. Welcome to Peep-o, Popcorn, Penguin and Peck-e. Our new friends we want to share with you.
All are made from 100% wool blankets which have been up-cycled and felted into toys.
They are made in Tasmania by Janine.
They are blanket stitched, I love blanket stitching.
