I am very lucky to live in a beautiful place called Penguin. Nestled along the coast of the North West of Tasmania, near by, but not too close to two cities. A nice little town whose main street is 'just over from the beach'. My children can swim or walk on the beach every afternoon. Town is a short walk away from home, and we have many great small business that offer most things you really need, ie, a great coffee shop, gift shop with local work and choices of supermarkets.

Growing
I am happy with the fact that I never want to grow up! I think 'child' is the nicest state to be in.

Ned and best friend Soli at Marrawah.
My ideal is eternal childhood. I live to play and laugh. Have you ever noticed how much children laugh...... I try to exist in a state of possibilities, unknown answers, endless questions. Life is my playground, work is my playground, my house and family are my play-mates. How exciting it is to get up each day and make it up! What interests me today, what w... Continue reading ...

Making string with recycled sari silk and sisal string. Framed joined with a god's eye. Weaving in string with basket upside down, between knees.
Keep turning it around the right way, to see that the colours look right, and that the frame still has the shape you started with. Some of us find that string is woven on more than just baskets (see my wrist).
A lovely basket of collected blue bailing twine, just perfect for these rope baskets.
Another beach rope basket,
That has gone to its new own... Continue reading ...

A lovely day working was had yesterday at the Makers Workshop in Burnie. I was joined by Rebecca, a visiting basket maker from the mainland. We did lots of talking and sharing of ideas, and also lots of string making. We both made raw fleece string as we love the look and feel of it. I was very impressed with Rebecca's finished work, shown here modelled on a glad wrapped florence(usually required for paper molding, hence the glad wrap).
